Private Lesson Times

Music lessons at the Olive Tree Music Academy are available between 9am-9pm Monday-Saturday by appointment. However, different instruments are only offered during certain days of the week. We will do our absolute best to give you a lesson time that works best for your busy schedule. Please fill out our “Interest Form” for days and times available for your specific instrument, or call 973-786-1655.

Our website makes everything easy

When you fill out the Interest Form on our website, and once registered, you will be able to see calendars for each month, listing all of the dates of your lessons plus holidays and other days off.
You will also be able to see invoices for each month and the dates they are due. You may conveniently pay online through Paypal, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, or American Express.

Any contracts or commitments?

No! The only thing you commit to is the month for which you’ve paid for. With notice you are free to cancel at any time.

How young, or old?

We start private music instruction for children as young as age 3, which is hard to find elsewhere. Violinists may enroll in the Suzuki Violin program starting at age 3, and all other instruments usually start at age 5. If your child is younger than this we encourage you to check out the group classes for newborns through five years old. Click around our site some more for more information on the Suzuki Violin classes and Baby, Toddler, and Preschool classes. Finally, if you’re afraid you’re too old, don’t be! Adult students also love us, and we love adult students! It really is never too late.

Will I or my child like my/his/her music lessons?

We can’t promise that we know everything that you or your child may or may not like, but we can promise you this – Our number one priority in finding the right teachers to hire is that they have really fabulous, likable, positive personalities that shine with pride and joy in what they have to offer to their students and the world of music. We also work hard to make sure we treat these teachers well because they’re so unique in what they do we consider them irreplaceable, and we anticipate that you will feel the same.

What about credentials?

That’s the best part. Not only are our teachers very wonderful likable people, but they’re also very experienced and very well educated. Most of our teachers have masters degrees in music and all have bachelor’s degrees in music and graduated with high recognition.

When you’re comparing different locations to take music lessons, please ask about education. There are no standards for who can teach music lessons and not all teachers out there are degreed. It is important that you or your child’s teacher is a master at the craft at which they teach.

Our teachers come with at least ten years of teaching experience and are established performers, performing regularly throughout the NJ/NY region. Really and truly, our greatest pride comes from the great teachers we have teaching in our school.

The Cost

Lessons are weekly throughout the year except for major holidays, and start at just $20 per week and is based on length of lesson and location. Call for more detailed information based on what you’re looking for.

Any contracts or commitments?

No! The only thing you commit to is the month for which you’ve paid for. With notice you are free to cancel at any time.

Our Favorite Part

Recitals! The Olive Tree Music Tree is excited to host recitals about twice a year. Music lessons should always be preparing for a performance. Recitals are a really important part of a music education and lessons are incomplete without it. Music is meant to be shared!

Far beyond the recital…

The impact of an education in music has been proven time and time again to be far beyond what can be measured. For instance, 66% of music majors who apply to medical school are admitted – the highest percentage of any group – surpassing even pre-med and science. Music brings together all the primary school disciplines (ie. math, art, language, science, etc.) and it does so in a deeply meaningful way. Besides its just a lot of fun and it feels great when you can pick up an object and make it sing, or be able to sing well yourself!

To Enroll:

Depending on your requested instrument, you may be able to talk to your prospective teacher over the phone when you call. You and your teacher, or at least the owner of our school, can then discuss that level of musicianship you are at currently, and what you are hoping to achieve. We will talk about desired musical style, what length of lessons you should be taking, where and how rent or purchase an instrument if needed, and decide what time slot best works for your schedule.
