Music has changed your life. Apply now to give this gift to students on our waiting list. The Olive Tree Music Academy in Morris Plains, Andover, and Verona is looking for qualified music teachers to teach private lessons.
We have 200+ regular weekly students with a waiting list and we’re convinced this is entirely because we have a high standard for having the best teachers around, and that we keep our teachers happy.
Lessons taught are all one-on-one and can run any time between Mon-Sat, so your hours with us can be flexible around other work/school/family commitments, as long as your availability stays fairly consistent from week to week.
You’ll start with just one day per week and grow if your schedule and student demand allows. Lessons are usually during after-school hours or Saturday mornings. Positions are all part-time and can be anywhere between 1-20 hours a week depending on the popularity of your instrument, your listed availability, and how often you are the teacher that students request after an initial lesson.
Contact us with a resume and bio, and please clearly state the instrument(s) you’re highly qualified to teach, the location(s) you’re applying for, and what days/times of the week you would be available to teach if hired. No phone calls please.
Our teachers determine their own schedule. With enough availability for our needs, we will fill your schedule with students. We expect our teachers to maintain an active career as a musician, and so as long as our students can expect consistently, you can expect us to be flexible with the demands of your other employment. We will handle billing, scheduling, payroll, and maintenance of our facility and pianos. Our teachers love the existence of a middleman to come to the defense of our teacher-centric policies.
Qualified applicants must have all of the following qualifications:
- Completed college degree in music, or a degree in progress
- Ample teaching experience either privately or in a school
- A personality that naturally inspires
In return the Olive Tree administration holds itself to a high standard:
- Competitive compensation for our teachers’ time
- Comprehensive handling of billing/scheduling
- Spacious lesson rooms
- Scheduling based on your availability
- Policies that ensure teachers are appropriately compensated for their time
